THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Inspired by Pope Francis Papacy

To transform our hearts into the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  To respond to our call to be Missionary Disciples.

Be merciful, just as [also] your Father is merciful

"To Jesus, whose side was pierced by us, let us open our hearts. Let's put our trust in him. May the stream of blood and water that flowed from his side bathe, purify and transform us. May it make us passionate prophets of the Gospel and intrepid witnesses of hope."  Pope Francis WYD 2023

We are called to promote a culture of mercy based on the rediscovery of the encounter with others, a culture in which no one looks at the other with indifference... The works of mercy affect a person's entire life. For this reason, we can set in motion a true cultural revolution, starting with simple gestures capable of reaching the body and spirit, the very life of people... God's Word constantly calls us to leave behind the temptation to hide behind indifference and individualism in order to lead a comfortable and trouble-free life. Jesus says to his disciples: "You have the poor with you always" (Jn 12:8). There is no alibi that justifies not committing oneself to the poor when Jesus has identified himself with each one of them.  (20)

Christian service represents a unique opportunity for growth and openness to God’s gifts of faith and charity. Many young people are attracted by the possibility of helping others, especially children and the poor. Often this service is the first step to a discovery or rediscovery of life in Christ and the Church. Many young people grow weary of our programmes of doctrinal and spiritual formation, and at times demand a chance to be active participants in activities that benefit others.  (225)

...because the important thing is to live well, to love our neighbour? It is true that the quality of Christian life is measured by the capacity to love, as Jesus said: “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (Jn 13:35); but how can we practice the Gospel without drawing the energy necessary to do so, one Sunday after another, from the inexhaustible source of the Eucharist? We do not go to Mass in order to give something to God, but to receive what we truly need from him....
